Welcome to my website!
I am Sundiata, and here is a little about my work and a description of the ideas that go into creating my stories. My work with children for several years in the Atlanta Public Schools has been fun and very rewarding when I tell them stories. That's why so many children remember me! I hope you like the stories as much as they do.
Sundiata The Tale Weaver is a film-maker, writer, poet, and multi-talented griot. He is the CEO of Vortex Tales Productions, a creative media company, and has written numerous original children's stories, as well as modified versions of classical folktales portraying cultures of African, Caribbean, and inner city cultures.

Vortex Tales Productions produces children's books that teach many lessons, including stranger danger, bullying, honoring the wisdom of elders, respect for teachers and parents, and more. Sundiata embeds a moral in every story. The stories also emphasize the importance of making smart decisions about safety.
The tales are based on African, Caribbean, and African American inner city cultures.

Some people think they can claim things that belong to other people. Johnny Come Lately is a Hip-Hop styled tale that shows what can happen to people who do not respect other people's property. It teaches the golden rule:
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
Sundiata weaves a tale about defiant young Rollo, who persuades his friend, Tubby, to ignore the town's curfew for children to never go into the woods after dark. They were in for the adventure of their lives. Rollo learns to listen to his elders- the hard way! Find out how and what it cost him to learn.
The story is based on an ancient legend about an evil force that exists in the world. Take in the vibrant art of Annie Cooper as the tale of the Bag Lady is told. "Don't be scared, be prepared".
